Ice cream sales are a priority for the student council this school year. The student council is raising money for prom; using the funds of after-school events will reach their goal.

“The budget is up to us and what we need for events,” Winston Garza, the junior class president, said.

Garza addressed budgeting concerns and clarified that any excess funds would be saved and used later.

“We will store it to host events throughout the year, along with prom,” Garza said.

Coming up next school year, students will need to raise enough money to afford to have a prom.

“Some ideas include a fall festival along with a movie night,” Ruby Hernandez, the junior class secretary, said.

Student council staff celebrate fall in mind.

“Haunted houses, pumpkin decorations, and a pumpkin fest outside of school,” Garza said.

Upcoming events are happening soon; with fall plans coming up, you can expect a lot of excitement.

“Some things we would like to do for our junior students are sometimes difficult because of the limited students; this could affect future out-of-school field trips,” Dominique Brown, the junior class parliamentarian, said.

Because of the pandemic and not having enough students, alternative activities will arise.

“If we don’t end up having prom because of COVID-19, we would ask students for their opinion on what they would like to do depending on the holiday coming up,” Brown said.

With future upcoming events being discussed, there are plenty of ideas to celebrate future holidays.

“We would like to have a fall dance after school. However, because of the winter formal, we are planning on doing a kick-off for winter break, spending the day relaxing and having fun along with sports tournaments,” Jackie Zamora, the junior class historian, said.

The student council is finding new ways to help raise money to help fund the events they have planned for their junior class.

“Adding more ice cream flavors is still being discussed. However, we are thinking about selling more things such as chicken plates, shirts, and snacks,” Garza said.

However, that is not the only thing the student council staff has planned for juniors.

“We are thinking about opening a store, figuring out what students would be interested in could help us gather ideas on what to sell,” Brown said.

We see many ideas coming up in the future with funds going better than expected; we have earned the most money out of all the grade levels, Garza said.
