Librarian Mrs. Elizabeth Cavazos has been heavily impacted by the absence of her former library assistant Mrs. Diana Salinas, both emotionally and professionally. Salinas applied for an attendance clerk position outside of Carter and she got the job.  Cavazos will now have a new library assistant to work with, Mrs. Ruth Flores.

When Mrs. Cavazos was notified by Mrs. Salinas that she was going to apply for the job of attendance clerk she was unhappy with that news. Cavazos feels sad that she will not be working with Mrs. Salinas anymore on a daily basis. Mrs. Cavazos said that not working with Mrs. Salinas anymore will be hard because they have worked together for so long and she is comfortable with her.

Our new library assistant Mrs. Flores works with Thelma R. Salinas T Stem Early College High School but will now be working at the Carter library Tuesdays and Thursdays and every other Friday of the month. Mrs. Cavazos is very grateful to have a new assistant following the departure of Mrs. Salinas. Flores helps out with the chaotic lunch rush as well as with supervising students throughout the day.

Mrs. Cavazos said that Mrs. Flores has adjusted quite well to our campus environment. Mrs. Flores brings with her a lot of experience working in libraries with early college students. The librarian will be a great fit for our library and school.

Mrs. Cavazos says that she would love for Mrs. Salinas to return to the library full time someday ,”That would be a dream come true,” she said.

September 17, 2019 was Mrs. Diana Salinas’ last day at the library.

Salinas says that at first she was excited, but then reality sank in along with the sadness of realizing she would not be working with Mrs. Cavazos. “It has been a very big adjustment for me since I grew up in a library. Mrs. Cavazos is an amazing lady. I would love to go back to my old job, but I must tough it out because I wanted to and still do learn more as far as office work. I love my position, it’s a lot of different assignments, but I think I will be okay,” she said.

Hello, my name is Carlos Flores and I'm 17 years old. My fascinated hobby is dancing like a jewellets, silver star and ruby not dancing Folklorico. My other hobby is to be planting plants and water them so they don't die. Whenever I eat I like putting the hot sauce to every food I make or my mom makes me. I considered myself as a crazy acquired friend and student with whoever I hangout. I like to hear any kind of music with the exception of country music I’m not a fan of that kind of music. When it comes to watching movies I like to watch any kind of movie. My favorite food is tortillas with egg, beans, enchiladas with rice. I’m the kind of person that doesn't;t like to go out that much with my family only when it’s for parties I go out. The subjects that I like a lot are math and science. I’m the type of person that always loves to be dancing whenever I can. My strongest fear is to randomly find a spider or snakes anywhere at any time. The most embarrassing thing that has happened to me is going to a store and confusing a customer with a worker from the store. The schools that I have attended are Elodia r Chapa Elementry School, Ann Richards Middle School. The school that I now officially attend is Jimmy Carter Early College High School. I’m the kind of person that is really special with what he is going to eat. I love coming to school every day because you get to learn new things from every different teacher. I have three dogs that are the funniest and most adorable pets I have had in my life.
